West 14th (Dubai)

This restaurant appears to be an attempt to bring an American steakhouse concept to Dubai, although it is hardly the first to do so.  It is situated in the Oceania resort on the West of the Palm and there is a nice outdoor bar area next to the main restaurant.  I tried the following dishes:

YELLOWFIN TUNA SASHIMI with bonito stock, blood orange, chamomile yoghurt and coriander salt (AED 85)

STICKY CALAMARI Sweet chilli sauce, roasted nuts and coriander (AED 65)

WAGYU TENDERLOIN 200g (AED 225) (Jack’s Creek, 4-5 marble score)

HAND CUT FRIES  & CREAMED SPINACH

MIXED MUSHROOM & BROCCOLINI GREMOLATA & TOMATO SALAD

Here the starters were decent, the tuna sashimi was nice but was quite different and the flavour may have been over-complicated.  The steaks were very good with a good depth of flavour and they were cooked perfectly, however, they were slightly too charred on the outside for me.  Sides were all well done.  Overall this meal looked to be very expensive and I suspect there may be better steaks for the money in Dubai (or at least there may be when Cut opens.)
